Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is a practice of deep gentle stretches supported by props that assists in cleansing the body and resting the mind, some may even refer to it as "Adult Nap Time". We will connect deeply with breath and body, moving slowly and mindfully setting up poses to experience and enjoy time spent there. Once the body is restored, is is easier for the mind to follow our guided Yoga Nidra to journey towards a yogic sleep where the body and mind enters a state similar to slumber.

Kids Yoga

There is so much to be said about incorporating Yoga into your life - from any age - so if we have the ability of teaching our children the beauty of movement, stillness, mindfulness and meditation - why not?

Technology has brought with it a more sedentary life for everyone, including children, which makes it extremely important to encourage any form of physical and mental activity. Yoga for kids has the advantage of being very adaptable. Even children that dislike or have difficulties in more active sports can benefit from it.

Kids love learning to fly like a crow, stand like a tree and leap like a lizard. They also take away the practice of breath control and gain tools to use to calm, relax and destress.

Meditative Sound Therapy

#selfcaresunday

Find mental and physical stress release with the meditative sounds of the gong. These sounds support states of deep relaxation where stress is released and healing can occur.

Sound baths get your energy field back in harmony by re-balancing energy and increasing relaxation. The best part is, you don't have to work to receive their benefits. All you have to do is lie down, breathe and listen.

Though many people have only recently heard of sound baths, the use of music for healing is nothing new. From Tibetan singing bowls to Aboriginal didgeridoos, music has been used for its therapeutic effects for thousands of years.

At end of the 19th century, researchers began to focus on proving the correlation between sound and healing. These studies proved that music could lower blood pressure, decrease pulse rate and assists the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for digestion and some metabolic processes. This totally makes sense — after all, I feel amazing when I listen to Fleetwood Mac, and who doesn't have a go-to song for decreasing their anxiety?

This is a gentle yet powerful experience with no physical component at all.

No meditation experience required and is open to everyone.

Held to coincide with the Full Moon.

Join Sita Simran on Sunday 19th May from 6pm to 7pm to catch the glow of the beautiful full moon.

Winter Solstice - 108 Sun Salutations

The shortest day of sunlight for the year marks our Winter Solstice, an entire 5 hours shorter than Summer. At arise.YOGA we like to celebrate these events by flowing our way through 108 Sun Salutations. We move with music, with intent, with breath and with purpose to complete our own personal journey towards this important Yogic Number 108.

We can chose to do this as a personal challenge, or we can chose to do this to achieve a deep moving meditation, whatever your reason, it's something you won't regret.
Your teacher will count her flows so no need for you to focus on anything but your movement, breath and intention. Rest when you need, power when you can, feel throughout.

Class will finish with a wind down group meditation and a circle of strength, followed by the most amazing cup of hot spiced cacao and a raw treat. What a special morning.
Bookings essential.
